Blueberry Superfood Smoothie Quick breakfast

Blueberries have always been my favorite berries, I love them in pancakes, muffins, just for snacking and especially in muesli. But the blue, low-calorie super fruits also cut a fine figure as a smoothie. They only have season from July, but you can already get them as cultivated berries (or you use frozen berries; I always recommend organic). Even if they don't taste as aromatic as the fresh summer goods, I couldn't ignore the basket with the small, round berries at the weekly market.

Blueberry Superfood Smoothie Quick breakfast

Blueberries - regional superfood

When it comes to so-called superfood, we are not necessarily dependent on imported exotics. Fruits and berries grow in front of our door, which have it all and rightly bear the title "super fruit". In this case, the name beauty food is probably even better.

Blueberries are real health boosters. In addition to valuable vitamins such as provitamin A, vitamin C and E, as well as minerals, they contain many anthocyanins , i.e. plant dyes , which protect us from diseases. These plant substances give the blueberries their beautiful, deep blue color and can thus prevent the skin from aging prematurely. Vitamin E is considered to be the ultimate beauty vitamin and is one of the antioxidants that in turn can help trap free radicals and strengthen our immune system. So this smoothie not only looks beautiful, it also makes it beautiful

Quick breakfast to sip

Smoothies are often the best way for me to eat a healthy breakfast with as many nutrients as possible without spending a lot of time. Every now and then they replace lunch. Fortunately, with the lockable Mason Jars, transporting and sipping on the go is no problem. So that the shakes keep me full longer, I like to use oat bran and / or protein powder. Oatmeal or drinking flakes are also great.

To increase the strength of the plant substances, I like to mix an organic superfood powder with the ingredients. For example, a raw vegetable powder consisting of hibiscus, rose hip, Chokeberries and matcha. Of course you don't have to.

Since I prefer to go through my sports program in the morning, I always include a scoop of neutral, vegetable protein powder in the breakfast shake - regardless of whether I drink it before or after exercising. This is also a matter of taste and is not decisive for the culinary experience of this smoothie.

ingredients

  • 125 g blueberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 small frozen banana
  • 50 g oat bran
  • 1/2 teaspoon flaxseed
  • 2-3 tablespoons vegetable yogurt (e.g. soy; unsweetened) or vegetable milk (e.g. almond, unsweetened)
  • 200 ml water
  • splash of lemonjuice
  • fresh mint
  • protein powder ( optional)

Instructions

Process all ingredients in a blender or with a powerful blender to create a creamy smoothie. I recommend mixing the frozen banana with the liquid first, then adding the remaining ingredients.

The blueberry smoothie tastes really delicious, is not too sweet and is a wonderful change on the rainbow menu. Give it a try and let me know how you like it.

Easy Traditional Greek Salad Recipe

The Greek salad is a recipe of the Greek gastronomic tradition, known and appreciated all over the world. Its Greek name is "salted horiatiki" and it is a tasty salad made up of red onion, cucumbers, tomatoes, green peppers, Greek black olives, enriched with the classic and unmistakable Greek feta cheese and seasoned with oregano, salt, pepper and oil. extra virgin olive oil. The mix of these typically Mediterranean ingredients is very appetizing, fresh, light and highly digestible. For the success of this simple dish, the ingredients are very important: the vegetables must be very fresh and Greek olives of the kalamata type are preferable. In addition, the feta cheese must be original DOP, preferably sheep and goat cheese which has a much stronger flavor. Some add other ingredients such as radishes, capers and lettuce. The oil-based dressing can be replaced by the tzatziki sauce, a typical Greek sauce with an intense flavor based on yogurt, garlic and cucumber. The Gree...

Green Peas and Spinach Veggie Burger (vegan)

Anyone who decides on a healthy diet cannot avoid green (leafy) vegetables, salads and herbs. Rightly so, because after all these foods are full of energy and are rich in antioxidants, amino acids, fiber, vitamins and minerals such as magnesium, calcium and iron - and very low in calories. The color alone puts you in a good mood and has something very soothing at the same time. All of these are reasons why the number of people interested in plant-based nutrition and healthy alternatives is growing steadily.
